Our Story

Northern Virginia’s Premier Expo Destination

DTC Expo Center was built to give Northern Virginia and the wider Mid-Atlantic region a venue that could genuinely compete for large-scale trade shows and conventions — column-free halls, industrial-grade power and a team that treats organizers as partners, not tenants.

How We Got Here

2022
A New Chapter for the Space

When Srini Chavali acquired the former Lord & Taylor space at Dulles Town Center in 2022, he saw an opportunity to do more than simply repurpose a vacant department store.

The vision was to create something that would draw people to Dulles Town Center, complement the surrounding property and give the space a new purpose.

The First Idea
Creating a Place to Gather

Ravi became involved with the property while exploring the development of an upscale banquet and event venue on the Upper Level.

While that concept ultimately did not move forward at the time, the process revealed something important: the building had the scale, location and flexibility to become something much bigger.

2025
An Opportunity Emerges

When news came that the longtime Dulles Expo Center would close at the end of 2025, the opportunity took on new significance.

For decades, the Expo Center had provided Northern Virginia with a home for consumer shows, exhibitions and community events. Its closure would leave a significant gap in the region.

Srini saw the potential for the former Lord & Taylor property to help fill that void – and approached Ravi about transforming the space into a new expo and event destination.

2026
From an Idea to a Commitment

What followed was months of planning, evaluation and discussion about what it would take to turn a former department store into a purpose-built venue capable of supporting exhibitions, consumer shows, conferences, competitions, cultural events and other large gatherings.

Ravi ultimately came on board to lead the development and operation of the new venue.

As the vision grew, so did the project. What began as an ambitious reuse of an existing space evolved into a significant investment in the infrastructure and capabilities needed to create a new 120,000-square-foot expo and event destination

Today
A New Destination for Loudoun County

With support and collaboration from Loudoun County, the County Supervisor’s Office, county officials, project partners and many others who shared the vision, that idea is becoming a reality.

Today, the former department store is being transformed into DTC Expo & Event Center — a 120,000-square-foot, two-level venue designed to welcome exhibitions, consumer shows, conferences, competitions, cultural events and gatherings of all kinds.

A space that once served generations of shoppers is beginning a new chapter—one designed to bring people together again
